Three men were arrested after one man was shot and the second injured

Three men have been arrested after a deadly attack in Walsall. A homicide investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in the street in Walsall and a second man was injured on Monday evening, July 8.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5pm on Monday night following reports of a shooting on Well Lane. The 20-year-old male victim died on the spot. A second man was injured, but his injuries were not life-threatening



West Midlands Police confirmed on Tuesday morning that three men had been arrested following the shooting. All three men remain in custody while the murder investigation continues.

The force has also been given section 60 powers which allow officers to stop and search people in the area.A forensic investigation is continuing on Well Lane today and police have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We have arrested a man and two teenagers on suspicion of murder following yesterday’s fatal shooting in Walsall. A 22-year-old man, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested last night following the Wells shooting. Lane, Blakenall, shortly after 5pm.

“All three remain in custody as we continue our investigations. The victim, a 20-year-old man, unfortunately died at the scene. Another man was also injured and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

“At this stage we believe this was a targeted attack. We understand how distressing and alarming incidents of this nature are, so there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

“Officers will give you reassurance so please speak to them if you have any concerns. We also have Section 60 powers in use in Walsall until 2pm today (Tuesday).

“Section 60 powers allow us to stop and search people without having to have reasonable grounds. As always, our main focus is to keep everyone safe.
