Garden party draws the crowds in Armley

Over fifty people turned up for a Summer Open Afternoon and Garden Party in West Leeds last week.

It was held at the Leeds City Mission Compassion Center in Mistress Lane, Armley.

Leeds City Mission organized the social event and a sale welcoming a wide range of people who dropped in at their premises near Armley One Stop Center & Library.

In recent times the City Mission have transformed their building into a community compassion center hosting a variety of projects to help people in need.

Long-standing supporters, friends, locals from surrounding streets and those who were just plain curious turned up.

There were various program items provided during the afternoon. A free light lunch started the day’s program.

Others were able to enjoy free ice creams and refreshments which were served throughout the afternoon much to the delight of everyone.

Old friendships and acquaintances were renewed. Visitors were also able to browse bargains on display as part of a ‘pop up’ charity shop display.

Over £150 was raised for City Mission projects Chairman Paul Crossley said that the ‘summer open afternoon and sale’ had highlighted the significant contribution the City Mission was making to the well being of the Armley neighbourhood.

He thanked everyone who attended for their presence and support. Leeds City Mission is a multi-church Christian agency which has worked with marginalized people since 1837 and seeks to meet the physical, social and spiritual needs of Leeds residents.
