Flames rip through house in Coventry as a huge blaze leaves a man injured

A man has been injured after a large fire tore through an end-of-terrace property in Coventry. It happened on Gulson Road in Stoke.

Fire crews from Coventry, Foleshill, Sheldon and Leamington Spa were called to the town’s residential street on Friday (May 10). Flames could be seen tearing through the residential address when the fire broke out at around 5.10pm.




Crews discovered a large fire on the ground floor of a terraced house on Gulson Road. Officials said its cause has not yet been determined.

Paramedics found a man in the garden suffering from smoke inhalation and minor injuries. He was taken to Coventry University Hospital in Walsgrave.

No one else was injured, West Midlands Fire Service said. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in less than an hour, but continued to work at the scene into the evening (May 10).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a fire at a property on Gulson Road at 5.19pm on Friday (May 10). Crews discovered a male patient who was treated for injuries not thought to be serious before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”
