Students set up pro-Palestine camp at Birmingham University

Pro-Palestinian protesters threatened with police action by the University of Birmingham after setting up a camp today (Monday) have vowed to stay put. Dozens of UK universities staged demonstrations after similar anti-Israel camps emerged in the United States. Birmingham is believed to be the first to threaten students with legal action if they do not end their actions. But protesters at the Ebgbaston camp said they did not believe they had broken any laws and vowed to stay put despite facing possible arrest. One student, who gave her name only as JJ, said: “So far we have not been threatened with aggravated trespass.
