Photographers have been snapped at the house in Doncaster as police comb the scene for clues

Police in Doncaster are appealing for information after several shots were fired at a house and vehicles in the Wheatley area of ​​the city overnight.

It is reported that at around 12.52am on Monday (May 13), a resident heard a ‘popping’ sound in Barnby Dun Road before seeing a car speeding away from an address in the street. The incident was reported to the police at 7.43am. They went to the scene, where they found damage consistent with a firearm discharge.




Police confirmed no one was injured, but a house and two vehicles were damaged. A scene is currently in place to allow officers to carry out their work and a detailed forensic examination of the scene. A number of inquiries are being carried out, including house-to-house visits and CCTV trawls of the area, and police are urging anyone with information about this incident to get in touch immediately.

Detective Inspector Claire Moss, of South Yorkshire Police’s armed crime team, said: “This is an alarming incident which happened on a residential street when many people were fast asleep. It is fortunate that no one was injured and we are now putting in resources. in finding the people responsible.

“Our position on gun crime is simple – we will not tolerate it here in South Yorkshire, which is why we are now urging anyone with information to get in touch with us. We are treating this as a targeted attack and will work on it. let’s relentlessly bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice and take dangerous weapons off our streets for good. However, we can only do this with the full help and cooperation of the public.
