Liverpool have made the decision on Darwin Nunez after the striker’s role in the dispute

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez was involved in ugly scenes in the United States on Wednesday night when the Uruguayan star got into an altercation with fans in Colombia, but the Reds are awaiting all the facts before deciding how to proceed with the player.

Uruguay was eliminated from the Copa America after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the semi-final stage. It was a missed opportunity for Marcelo Bielsa’s men as the Colombians were reduced to 10 men for the entire second half.

Emotions ran high after the full-time whistle, and once word reached the Uruguayan players that the safety of their families was at risk, it all started between the team and the Colombia fans.

Footage emerged of Nunez punching Colombian fans as the striker needed to stop doing any more damage.

The Liverpool star could later be seen in another video attempting to throw a chair at some Colombia fans, abusing him and his team-mates before being pulled out of the hand and visibly pulled back by his international colleagues.

Taken out of context, the clips show an out-of-control Nunez going berserk, and according to the Liverpool Echo, the Premier League club are aware of the incident but will wait to comment.

Liverpool to wait before making decision on Darwin Nunez

Although Nunez stepped in to defend his family and could later be seen comforting his youngest son on the pitch after the game, it is not something a club like Liverpool would want to be associated with one of the players their.

According to the Echo, the Reds will contact Nunez when the time difference allows them to check on the welfare of the 25-year-old and his family after an unpleasant night in Charlotte.

The Merseyside club will also speak directly to the Uruguayan Football Association to get their version of events and it is understood that no official statement is imminent with Anfield officials keen to establish all the facts surrounding the ugly scenes before determining the best course of action.

This was a very bad night for football in South America and Liverpool are very likely to stand by their player throughout this incident.
