Wetherspoons names ‘all’ 36 pubs in England to close – full list of locations

Wetherspoons has named all 36 pubs in England to close. The pub giant, which operates pubs and takeaways across Birmingham, is to close the door on 36 sites as it puts drinks up and down the country on sale.

Tim Martin, chairman of JD Wetherspoon, commented: “The gradual recovery in sales and profits following the pandemic has continued in the current financial year.” He added: “Total sales are again at record levels with fewer pubs. Sales per pub are around 21% higher than pre-pandemic levels, which has helped offset the very substantial increase in costs.”

“For example, compared to the 2019 financial year, labor this financial year increased by around £164 million, energy by £28 million, repairs (also affected by labor costs) by £38 £ million and interest (excluding IFRS 16 interest) by £16 million’.
