Manhunt for Kyle Clifford as the murdered family of BBC commentator John Hunt

Three women killed in a Hertfordshire home were the wife and two daughters of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, it has been confirmed.

Carol Hunt, 61, Hannah Hunt, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, were found badly injured at a house in Ashlyn Close, Bushey, just before 19:00 BST on Tuesday and all died at the scene.

Inquiries are underway to find Kyle Clifford, 26, from the Enfield area, who is wanted in connection with the deaths.

He is believed to be in Hertfordshire or North London and is carrying a crossbow.

A senior police officer earlier said the deaths were being treated as murders.

Sup. Ch Jon Simpson said “other weapons may have been used”.

Mr Clifford left the British Army after a short stint in 2022, according to the BBC.

Sup. Ch Simpson said the police’s “overall objective” was to protect public safety and locate Mr Clifford.

He said the three women were believed to have been killed in a “targeted incident”

Sup. Ch Simpson appealed to Mr Clifford and asked him to “please contact the police via 999”.

He described it as a “horrific incident” and said armed police and specialist search teams were involved in the manhunt.

Sup. Det Rob Hall said earlier: “While we are still in the early stages of this investigation, we are actively searching for Kyle Clifford, who we believe could be in the Hertfordshire or North London areas.

“Given the serious nature of the incident, I would ask anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact the police immediately.

“If you think you see him, please stay away from him and call 999 immediately. He may still be in possession of a weapon.”

He also appealed for anyone who was in the area of ​​Ashlyn Close between lunchtime and 7pm on Tuesday who may have anything to help the investigation to get in touch.

Local councilor Louise Nicolas wrote in a Facebook post that she was “deeply saddened to learn this morning of the tragic news that three women have lost their lives in a violent incident”.

“If anyone wants to speak to us or needs any support, please don’t hesitate to contact us,” said Ms Nicolas, a Liberal Democrat who represents North Bushey on Hertsmere Borough Council.

“It goes without saying that this is a live investigation, so there should be no speculation about the circumstances (in public forums).”
