The Bundesliga club have signed the Manchester United star’s brother after opting out of Donny van de Beek’s contract

Manchester United are working on offers for the Dutch stars but have allowed Donny van de Beek to move on.

Erik ten Hag is staying on as Manchester United boss and it looks like some of his compatriots will be coming.

Reports in Germany suggest that Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt is set to move to Old Trafford.

The centre-back is understood to have told Bayern he wants to join United immediately as talks continue over a deal.

That move is progressing well, but United look further down the line with a move to sign striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Reports on Thursday afternoon suggest Zirkzee is traveling for a medical with United as a deal moves a step closer.

As two Dutch players prepare to join, one leaves Old Trafford and Donny van de Beek’s time at the club is coming to an end.

Rasmus Hojlund’s brother signed for Donny van de Beek

Van de Beek has been a huge signing for United in 2020 after impressing with Ajax.

The move was a nightmare for Van de Beek, managing just 35 Premier League appearances and two goals.

Loans to Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt didn’t work out either, and United have now allowed him to leave in a cut-price move to Girona.

United had reportedly hoped to see Eintracht Frankfurt exercise their permanent option on Van de Beek, but it was no surprise when he opted out.

Van de Beek managed just four Bundesliga starts and struggled to get back on track in Germany.

Eintracht could have signed Van de Beek for £9.5m but would have gone the other way – and their next signing has a United link.

Eintracht have confirmed the signing of midfielder Oscar Hojlund – brother of United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund joined United from Atalanta last summer and has now seen his younger brother earn a big move.

The midfielder is on his way from Copenhagen to Frankfurt and Eintracht are backing the 19-year-old for a bright future.

“In Oscar Højlund we are signing a very talented player who has already gained international experience despite his young age and is a great fit for us given his skills and excellent footballing character. That said, he still has a lot of potential to develop and we will give him the time to do so. We are glad that Oscar chose to join us. During our talks I could tell how much he was waiting to come here,” said Eintracht sporting director Timmo Hardung.

Van de Beek to Girona confirmed

Eintracht clearly believe that in order to strengthen their midfield long-term, signing Hojlund was a better investment than Van de Beek.

Girona pounced though and have now announced the arrival of Van de Beek.

Girona appear to be quite pleased with the deal which has given the Dutchman a four-year contract in Catalunya.

“The new red and white footballer is a very talented midfielder who stands out for his vision of the game, his ability to score goals and his ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates. In addition, he is a versatile player who can adapt to different positions,” they wrote.

United fans have never seen Van de Beek close to his best, but few will have hard feelings about him as he heads to Spain.

The hope is that Van de Beek can finally get back on track with this latest move after four tough years for his career.
