Spy – Here are the features of the Royal Enfield Guerrilla

With the Himalayan model, Royal Enfield had given a vigorous twist to its philosophy focused on vintage-flavoured motorcycles, based on the technical and stylistic lines of the 1950s. A second step in this direction was taken this year with the arrival of the new Himalayan 450 equipped with double overhead cam distribution and liquid cooling, but mostly characterized by much more modern lines. For the third step, we will have to wait until July 17: that date is scheduled for the official presentation of the Guerrilla 450, the novelty that has been talked about for some time.

A logo to mask the photo

It is derived from the Himalaya 450 and shares many of its components.

To drum up interest, Royal Enfield released some images of CEO Siddhartha Lai and CEO Balakrishnan Govindarjan next to the upcoming bike, but they muddled the details with a large logo obscuring a good portion of the vehicle. Although no information has come from the company, there are still some of the usual approval documents that confirm the very close level of the relationship.

The engine is the same, liquid-cooled 452cc Sherpa first seen on the 2024 Himalayan. The homologation documents report the same power, 39.5PS at 8000rpm, and the same torque, 4.1kgm at 5500rpm.

The chassis is tested

From what we can see in the “blacked out” images, the frame and rear of the body appear to be the same, as does the round headlight. The wheels and suspension have changed, however, because the Guerrilla has a more road-oriented vocation. So the front tire is 12070-17 instead of the Himalayan 90/90-21, just like the rear tire is 160/60-17 instead of 140/80-17. The fork is conventional with relatively short travel, while the production bike already has a Ø 43mm inverted fork. The Guerrilla’s wheelbase is 1491 mm instead of 1509, and the overall length has decreased from 2286 mm to 2133 mm. The handlebars are 18 mm narrower, and the height of the Guerrilla, clear of the windshield, has gone from 1316 to 1115 mm.

The weight is also lower: 182.8 kg instead of 196.0 with a 90% full tank.

Many competitors

The new Royal Enfield road bike will fit into a segment that includes the Triumph Speed 400, which is claimed to have 39.5 hp and 3.8 kgm of torque at 6,500 rpm with a weight of 170 kg; in the same range is the Husqvarna Vitpilen, which reaches 44 HP. The Royal Enfield is expected to have a strong price point, but we will have to wait for the official launch to be sure. There is not much time left…
