Shoppers in Leicestershire could win a basket of free products in a special weigh-in event

Shoppers have the chance to get their shopping for free this weekend in a spectacular singing event. A number of SPAR stores across Leicestershire are taking part in the initiative and want you to blast a brilliant song.

SPARaoke Saturdays is part of the convenience store’s ‘Make Me A Champion’ summer campaign, which aims to offer customers prizes. In this case, shoppers could get their grocery basket for free – but they’ll have to sing for it and be in with a chance of winning the prize.

SPAR stores in Burbage, Melton, Broughton Astley and Coalville are taking part in the event which takes place on Saturday (July 13). Shoppers will have to listen carefully to Queen’s “We are the Champions” before rushing to the checkout, grabbing a microphone and singing their hearts out.

Shoppers will need to sing for 30 seconds to ensure they qualify for the wider prize draw. The winner will then receive the entire basket of goods for free.

A spokesperson for SPAR said: “We know that most champions belong on the global sporting scene, but we also know that champions live secretly in local communities. So while you might not get a medal this summer, you can definitely feel the rush of being your local SPARaoke champion with SPAR!”

Hundreds of SPAR stores across the country have taken part in the program over the past month, with Saturday’s event being the final weekend of the event. It applies to all shoppers, whether they’re stocking up on lots of items or just collecting some odds and ends, as the whole basket could be free.

Coalville SPAR store manager, Max Nissen, said: “Co-workers and shoppers at Coalville have enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the SPARaoke campaign. The campaign resonated well with local customers and we had more customers declaring their hearts on Saturday. We look forward to welcoming people on Saturday for the final SPARaoke.”
