Police update on hunt for Dolars Aleksanders four weeks after Keaton’s death

A wanted man at the center of an international manhunt is still on the run four weeks after a 12-year-old boy was murdered in Coventry. Dolars Aleksanders has yet to be caught following the tragic death of Keaton Slater, who was killed on Radford Road.

Young Keaton suffered catastrophic injuries in the hit and run, which happened at around 4.30pm on Friday 14 June. He tragically died at the scene, West Midlands Police said.



It was a tragedy that sparked an outpouring of grief across the city as people mourned the loss of the young “fun lover”, who was an avid Sky Blues fan. Tributes continued to pour in for Keaton and just under £60,000 was raised to support his parents Clint and Louise and brothers Kai and Keanu.

Today marks four weeks since the horrific incident and the “prime suspect”, Dolars Aleksanders, 21, from Latvia, is still on the run despite repeated calls for him to “do the right thing”. He is wanted on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, West Midlands Police said.

Police arrested and spoke to a number of people in the investigation, including a 56-year-old man who was detained on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 21-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing the death of to dangerous driving. Both people, who have not been named, have been released on bail.

Charity Crimestoppers has also issued a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to Aleksanders’ arrest. It’s available for the next two months and is set to expire on Friday, September 20.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We are continuing to follow lines of inquiry in relation to Dolars Aleksanders. It remains an active investigation and specially trained officers are continuing to support Keaton’s family.”

Sergeant Rich Evans, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, added: “We have been working around the clock to bring everyone involved in this collision to justice. Our thoughts remain with Keaton’s devastated family at this truly awful time, and we would ask anyone who still has vital information and is thinking of speaking up to consider that family and do the right thing.”
