Edmonton Academy Trust receives national award

The award highlights North Star Community Trust’s commitment to “educational excellence and community engagement”

An Edmonton academy trust has been named Multi Academy Trust of the Year after beating out more than 1,000 others from across the country.

The honor for North Star Community Trust was awarded by the Confederation of School Trusts (CST), which organizes the National Awards for Excellence.

North Star, based in Cuckoo Hall Lane, runs Heron Hall Academy, Woodpecker Hall Academy, Kingfisher Hall Academy and Enfield Heights Academy.

The award highlights North Star’s commitment to “educational excellence and community engagement.”

Trust CEO Marino Charalambous said: “Winning the Multi Academy Trust of the Year award is a fantastic achievement which recognizes the hard work of our staff, children, parents, trustees, governors and the communities we serve.

“Our journey has been about breaking down barriers, raising standards and empowering families and individuals through innovation, dedication and a deep understanding of local needs.

“The entire team at North Star has an unwavering belief in the power of education to transform lives.”

North Star was also a finalist in the ‘Community Trust of the Year’ category but failed to receive that award. One of its schools, Woodpecker Hall Academy, is also in the running to be named ‘UK Primary School of the Year’ at the Pearson National Teaching Awards.

Independent news outlets like ours – which report for the community without wealthy backers – are under threat of closure, turning Britain’s cities into news deserts.
