Mother planned to drug daughter, 6, so boyfriend could rape her, court heard

A mother and her boyfriend conspired to drug their six-year-old daughter to ‘knock her out’ so they could rape her. The woman, who lived near Liskeard at the time of the alleged offences, is currently on trial at Truro Crown Court charged with five counts, including sending him photographs of the girl’s private parts on Christmas Day.

The charges are conspiracy to rape a child under 13, assault by penetration of a child under 13, administration of a substance – Tramadol – with intent to drug or overwhelm a child to allow the man to engage in sexual activity with them , sharing an indecent message. Category C photograph of a child and possession of six category C photographs of a child. All are said to have taken place between October 2021 and December 2021.

No one involved can be named to avoid identifying the victim. In opening the trial today (Monday, May 13), barrister Heather Hope told the jury how the defendant and her boyfriend were caught when the man met another woman for a drink and showed her something on his phone.

When she went to the toilet she left her phone behind and the woman looked back through the WhatsApp messages and what she saw caused her serious concern. Ms Hope said it may have been the look on the woman’s face or the man realized he had left his phone with her, but when he returned from the toilet he found an excuse to leave.

However, he had left the phone behind with her and she decided to take it to the police. When the police read the messages, they saw that they had been between the man and the defendant.

The court was told the defendant and her boyfriend met in 2021 and started messaging each other in July of that year. Ms Hope said the messages not only revealed the nature of the consensual activities the defendant and her boyfriend enjoyed engaging in, but also revealed the man’s clear sexual interest in sexual activity with the defendant’s daughter.

Ms Hope added: “There can be no mistake that there were plans to sexually abuse (the child). The parties had hoped this would happen in early November 2021 but due to other events in (the man’s) life he did not visit as arranged but discussions continued as to how this would now take place over the Christmas period from 2021.”

The jury was then read dozens of text messages that were sent between the defendant and her boyfriend around the time the alleged offenses are said to have taken place. Initially, the pair are said to have made plans for the defendant to give their daughter Calpol or Tramadol – a drug used to treat moderate to severe pain – to “knock it out” so the man could come home and have he rubs his penis against the young girl’s private parts.

The two are also said to have discussed having sex afterwards. A message from the man that was read said: “I’m really into the wrong things at the moment.” While the defendant replied: “It’s fine, I didn’t do anything wrong, but I’m interested in it.”

Ms Hope said the defendant was only concerned about being caught if her daughter was to wake up and realize what was happening or if she became pregnant. On one occasion, the defendant is said to have sent her boyfriend a picture of her daughter sleeping and he sent a message saying he wanted to take her virginity, to which the defendant allegedly agreed to help him .

On Christmas Day 2021, the defendant allegedly sent her boyfriend a photo of her daughter’s bare private parts. The pair were then said to have made plans for the man to come on Boxing Day so he could rape the defendant’s daughter while she was unconscious from her mother’s medication.

However, they were unable to carry out the plan as the young woman asked to sleep at her grandmother’s house that evening. Ms Hope said the defendant Googled children’s tramadol and bought medication on Amazon with the intention of giving it to her daughter on December 27 when she and her boyfriend planned to visit him.

During another discussion about what the man wanted to do to the defendant’s daughter, he sent a message saying: “This is a massive thing you’re doing for me”, to which the defendant is said to have replied: ” I know that. that’s why I want to do it.”

Ms Hope told the jury there was a “clear discussion and a plan repeatedly for (the defendant) to stun her child and allow (the man) to come and sexually abuse and rape her on December 27 “.

The court was told that after she was arrested on December 30, the defendant admitted having a sexual conversation with her boyfriend about her daughter but said she did not give consent. She is also said to have denied agreeing to drug her daughter or allowing the man to take her daughter’s virginity.

The defendant allegedly told police during questioning that he was “just going along with what (the man) was saying” because he “didn’t want to upset him.”

However, Ms Hope said: “This is not just a woman going along with a man and saying what he wanted. She conspired with him. She knowingly shared an indecent image of her daughter and possessed indecent images of her child.

“The whole purpose of giving her daughter inappropriate drugs for a child, especially Tramadol, was to get away with their horrible plan.”

She added that all six indecent images of the child were taken in October 2021. They are said to have been taken with the defendant’s daughter in the bathroom or her lying in the bathroom and focused on her genital area.

The process continues.
