The situation is improving at McGill University’s super hospital after the water main burst

MONTREAL — A Montreal health network says the situation is improving after an overnight water main break cut off drinking water at its superhospital and forced the suspension of emergency services, surgeries and outpatient appointments.

McGill University Health Center says water pressure is returning and officials are working to ensure a safe resumption of normal operations.

The center says clinical services will resume throughout the day, including the emergency room, day surgery and outpatient care.

Earlier today, the hospital center diverted ambulances from its facilities and canceled appointments after a water main break left the Glen Superhospital on Montreal’s west side without drinking water.

The outage affected the massive complex that includes the Royal Victoria Hospital, the Cedars Cancer Centre, the Montreal Breast Institute, the Montreal Children’s Hospital and the MUHC Research Institute.

The City of Montreal says repairs are underway on a 12-inch pipe that burst.
