Sources say Glen Kamara could be on his way out of Elland Road

Glen Kamara joined Leeds United for a fee of around £5.5m last summer but sources suggest he could be set to leave.

Just 12 months after joining the Whites from Rangers, Ligue 1 side Rennes were rumored to be inquiring about the Finnish midfielder.

He made 40 league appearances last season alongside Bulgaria international Ilia Gruev in the middle.

Club reporters were quick to dismiss the idea of the Leeds number eight leaving as he is seen as an important part of Daniel Farke’s squad.

However, the Rennes sporting director has since confirmed their interest and they likely have the funds to make a move after selling Enzo Le Fee to Roma for £23m.

While online speculation suggested a fee of around £5m could land Kamara, Leeds are under no pressure to sell him and are likely to value him at more than £6m.

In another twist, a source close to Leeds United revealed on Friday night that Kamara is likely to be the next player to leave Elland Road as the exits continue.

Joe Rothwell’s arrival on Thursday was greeted with some relief that United had been active in the transfer market, even if some fans described the loan signing as a “reveal”.

The latest development raises the question of whether Rothwell is in contention for Fin or if he is seen as a direct replacement.

Supporters will understandably be jittery with pre-season underway and so much work to do in terms of revenue, especially as a troubled start to last season arguably cost Farke’s side automatic promotion.
