Arrested as a man in hospital after Hemsworth stabbed him

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in Hemsworth on Wednesday morning (July 10). West Yorkshire Police were called to Oakwood Drive at 5.29am following reports of an injured man running from the scene.

Another report was received from Yorkshire Ambulance Service who said they were called to reports of a man with stab wounds on Tombridge Crescent, Kinsley. They reported that the injured man left the scene again.

Police have since established that the actual attack took place on Oakwood Drive, Hemsworth. The injured man went to the Premier store in Kinsley and later to hospital where he is being treated for a stab wound and multiple cuts.

A 43-year-old man was arrested and is currently in custody. A number of police cordons were put in place while police carried out initial inquiries into the assault.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Detectives from Wakefield District CID are keen to speak to anyone with information that could assist officers in their ongoing enquiries.
