A 10-year-old girl has died following a house fire in Bradford, with a woman and three other children being taken to hospital for treatment.

Emergency services were called to the property, in Kingsdale Drive, just after 1am yesterday morning.

A 37-year-old woman and three children, aged 11, six and three, managed to escape and were taken to hospital with injuries described as life-threatening, West Yorkshire Police said.

Tragically, a fourth child, a 10-year-old girl, was discovered inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene, the force added.

Police investigating the house fire said the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews, two from Bradford and one from Shipley, who used two hose reels and four breathing apparatuses at the scene.

A neighbor who did not want to be named described hearing sirens around 1.10am.

They added: “I saw smoke and the fire brigade coming down the street.

“I didn’t know the family, but I went to lay my condolences.”

A message accompanying flowers left at the scene said: “Thinking and praying for you all at this time of terrible loss and grief.”
