Wigan Warriors vs St Helens Team News: Lewis Dodd down, Bevan French injured and Luke Thompson at prostitute

St Helens have confirmed their squad for the derby against Wigan Warriors, with Paul Wellens making the brave call to withdraw Lewis Dodd, meaning debutant Harry Robertson comes into the mix.

Spine problems for St Helens this week revolved around the spine, with prostitute Moses Mbye banned following a grade B charge. This was unsuccessfully contested twice by St Helens, which means there was a race for fitness for Daryl Clark.

Clark has returned to form and is named as the first new starter for the Red Vee, however the big news involving the spine sees Lewis Dodd miss out with Jack Welsby coming into the halves. That opened up the opportunity for young academy star Harry Robertson to make his full-back debut.

It’s an incredibly brave call from Paul Wellens, who himself has come under fire from Saints fans recently, but it’s one that could pay huge dividends.

As for their hosts Wigan Warriors, it has been confirmed that they are without all three prostitutes, with Brad O’Neill suspended and both Kruise Leeming and Tom Forber injured.

This has prompted suggestions that Adam Keighran could move into the number nine role, but instead it is forward Luke Thompson who takes the job.

It’s a decision nobody saw coming, but perhaps more worrying for Wigan Warriors fans is the fact that Bevan French is also missing.

That means Wigan will field a spine of Zach Eckersly, Jack Farrmond, Harry Smith and Luke Thompson in the biggest game of the season so far.

A win over their rivals St Helens would put them six points clear of Saints and four points clear at the top of Super League with a game in hand.

The match will be live on Sky Sports, with coverage starting at 7.30pm.
