BBC Saturday Kitchen viewers snap up the ‘new’ format within seconds of the show

Saturday Kitchen faced an exodus of viewers from the BBC today – after fans objected to it being pre-recorded. The episode aired from 10am and was pre-recorded ahead of time, meaning viewers missed the ‘live’ element of the programme.

“I love @SaturdayKitchen, but I much prefer it when it’s live… I love the risk of watching famous people being slowly passed before my eyes on live TV!” said a Twitter/X user. A second said: “This show is pre-recorded not live today so at the time of recording I didn’t know England were in the final so no flags #saturdaykitchen”

But coming up with the show and setlist, another said: “@Anahaugh @SaturdayKitchen I just cheered when you mentioned Ulster Folk Park. My husband comes from there and took me out one day. I liked! #saturdaykitchen “

Another said: “Very good natured and fun @SaturdayKitchen today with @Anahaugh from @myrtlerest , @jollyolly and @ChefBainbridge. Thanks for the wonderful mix of guests @amandacactus looking forward to seeing you on @bbcPoV on Sunday at 12.30 answering comments on #SambataBucatarie”

They added: ‘A good choice of rosé wine from @jollyolly to pair with @Anahaugh’s balsamic prawns with cherry tomatoes and creamy polenta on @SaturdayKitchen #SaturdayKitchen. We love quick recipes like this and agree with @ChefBainbridge that they’re great to eat with a spoon.”

On the Saturday Kitchen account, the show – which airs after BBC Breakfast and is hosted by Matt Tebbutt – wrote: “Starting today’s show with Anna’s balsamic prawns with cherry tomatoes and creamy polenta!”

“You can find @Anahaugh’s recipe here http://bbc.co.uk/food/programmes/m00215x9 @jollyolly recommends going with a cold glass of Chiaretto di Bardolino Rosé (£7.99, Aldi),” it said . Matt was joined by Ana Haugh on Saturday, as well as Laura Smyth and chef Richard Bainbridge.
