Dom Howson makes transfer predictions for Sheffield Wednesday following Nathaniel Chalobah’s arrival

Dom Howson has predicted Sheffield Wednesday’s next move following the signing of Nathaniel Chalobah.

Sheffield Wednesday have so far managed an impressive nine confirmed signings ahead of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, with former Manchester United striker Charlie McNeill arriving in S6 earlier this week.

The Owls have strengthened across the pitch with signings as well as tying down the futures of some of their key players last season, including Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer.

Svante Ingelsson had been signed from Bundesliga 2 side Hansa Rostock, however German boss Danny Rohl decided to make further additions in the center of the park.

They have since signed another midfielder in Nathaniel Chalobah, who has Premier League experience and an England cap.

After nine arrivals in total, Dom Howson has had his say on which Sheffield Wednesday players could be on their way out ahead of the new season.

Dom Howson predicts ‘few exits’ at Sheffield Wednesday

Rohl had a floundering squad ahead of the summer window but has now been able to add many new faces, creating doubt over who will leave Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

Dom Howson at X said: โ€œYou have to think there will be a few exits in the next couple of weeks.

โ€œThey would definitely loan Charles/Hall to start. And Shipston.โ€

Pierce Charles and Rio Shipston have both played for the Sheffield Wednesday first team, but goalkeeper Jack Hall has yet to taste senior football in his career.

Youngster Charles is the only one of the three to have been given a start for the Sheffield Wednesday first team, having made two 90-minute appearances against Coventry City in the FA Cup during the 2023/24 campaign.

Will Sheffield Wednesday have to let go of senior players

It is likely that if Charles, Hall or Shipston were to leave Sheffield Wednesday, it would probably only be a loan move.

Pierce Charles, 18, will be one to watch for years to come as a potential first-team goalkeeper.

However, it is also necessary for Rohl to make cuts to his first-team squad as well, especially as the German manager looks to bring in new additions to Hillsborough.

Looking at the senior squad, Rohl may have to cut down on his attacking options, including the likes of Mallik Wilks and Bailey Cadamarteri.

While Cadamarteri is a valuable asset to the club and will be an important player in the future, a loan move could ensure he gets the game time he needs to help his development, while Wilks has struggled to- and cement a place in the starting line. awake since his arrival.

Rohl having a bloated squad could cause unnecessary problems, so he will have to make cuts in the first team squad.
