Leeds United centre-back Pascal Struijk has been in full training this week as footage emerges of the team’s pre-season training session at Thorp Arch.

The squad currently at Leeds’ training ground in Wetherby is not at full strength, with signings expected in due course alongside returning internationals.

However, there is a wealth of talent out there that Daniel Farke will already be looking to build his squad for next season, mainly those who help make up his back four.

Pascal Struijk was seen in pre-season footage taking part in full training

As the team entered the pre-season swing this month, several key first-team players reported to Farke from day one.

Importantly for Leeds, the previously injured Pascal Struijk is one of those players, right in the middle of the first team pack as the intensity rises.

The club’s official YouTube channel shared footage from behind the scenes at Thorp Arch, with Struijk taking part in full training like the rest:

Meanwhile, there is still no sign of Patrick Bamford being part of the main squad as he steps up his rehabilitation from a knee problem that prevented him from playing a part in Leeds’ final games last season.

Will Leeds be promoted this season?

Struijk’s presence in pre-season is a huge boost for Leeds’ title shot

It’s been almost seven months since we’ve seen Struijk take to the pitch in a proper match and whether or not Ethan Ampadu has been as good as he was in 2024, the Dutchman’s absence has been notable – pointed out by Farke, labeling Struijk as a “cornerstone”. of the future of the club.

With an adductor problem that eventually extended to his early season ending in surgery, Leeds were not only without their best centre-back but also hindered Leeds further up with their best midfielder Ampadu , who couldn’t cover it.

Bringing him back for a full pre-season alongside Joe Rodon at Thorp Arch is huge for Leeds heading into this season, refining the back four and midfield structure further than was achieved last summer, with Rodon needed until the third game to start for the side.

Leeds should be confident that they have, at the very least, one of the best centre-back pairings in the league for next season, and the fact that they will have a full pre-season together is massive news.
