Boy, 16, flees scene of stolen car crash in Sheffield, leaving injured man behind

A teenager has been arrested after a crash in Sheffield this morning.

The 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop following an accident following the break-in between a gray Seat Cupra and a gray VW Gold in Normanton Hill at around 9.40am on Saturday 13 July.



A man was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. The road was closed for several hours and reopened at around 11.55am after emergency services worked at the scene.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to Normanton Hill in Sheffield at around 9.40am today (July 13) following reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

“A gray Seat Cupra and a gray VW Golf are said to have been involved in the collision, after which four men are said to have fled the scene.

“A 16-year-old boy was arrested nearby on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and failure to stop following an accident. A man was taken to hospital with injuries that were assessed as minor and has since been released. The road was closed as emergency services worked at the scene, it was reopened at around 11.55am.”
