The £11m player sends an emotional message as he leaves Manchester City

Manchester City have seen many players leave the club over the years.

For example, the previous summer’s transfer window saw Ilkay Gundogan, Cole Palmer, Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez bid farewell to the Etihad Stadium to start new chapters elsewhere.

In this current summer transfer window, other City players have ended their spells at the Manchester club and are joining new teams.

One of those is Sergio Gomez, who recently moved to Real Sociedad in an £8.4m deal (via BBC Sport).

Now though, the defender has shared a message with City supporters ahead of the next step in his career.

Sergio Gomez shares a farewell message to Man City fans

After his move to Sociedad was officially announced, Gomez took to social media to share this message with City supporters on his X account.

He said: “Unforgettable two years with @mancity. We won titles, lived unique experiences and fulfilled our dreams. Defending the badge of a club that I have always loved is priceless.

“I will continue to cheer from afar because this club is part of my heart! Always grateful!”

Gomez was due to leave City

In the 2022 summer transfer window, City paid £11m to sign the Spaniard from Anderlecht.

During his time at the Manchester club, the 23-year-old made just 38 appearances in all competitions, starting just 14 of them.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that he moved away from City in the hope of getting more game time, despite saying last year that he enjoyed working with Guardiola.

Now that he has shared this emotional farewell message on social media, it shows how much he has appreciated being part of the club during such a successful time.

Going forward, everyone at City will no doubt be hoping that Gomez’s move to Sociedad goes well.
