Here’s the roundup of Liverpool FC news for Saturday, July 13. Arne Slot is firmly in charge and has people talking.

Slot on Klopp’s words

Arne Slot has revealed what Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders told him about the Liverpool squad. They were absolutely right too.

Arne Slot has had little time with his new team now. Pre-season is firmly underway and while some of the stars remain absent due to international commitments, the new head coach has an idea of the players at his disposal.

It’s safe to say he’s impressed too. Slot spoke about the squad this week in an interview with LFCTV and said the advice from Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders was spot on.

Liverpool are on a roll with Arne Slot and one player – linked with an exit, no less – has given his first thoughts on the new head coach.

Caomhin Kelleher shared his initial thoughts on life under Arne Slot. The Dutchman is firmly in charge now, leading the team through its first training sessions.

Of course, Slot does not have the full squad available – many are away with international teams or on holiday after a tournament. It will take a while to work with everyone.

But that doesn’t stop players from learning about their new boss. Kelleher, who has actually been heavily linked with an exit this summer, gave his first impression of Slot. It is definitely positive.

With the start of pre-season training, Arne Slot’s reign as Liverpool boss begins.

The Dutch coach, who was appointed as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at the end of last season, has already attended his first interview with the club as well as a press conference with reporters.

A number of the club’s players, both young and old, have already linked up with Slot at the AXA Training Center for pre-season, although international commitments mean that not all of the 45-year-olds are currently available to him.

One such is, however, Liverpool’s left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

The 28-year-old did not travel to Euro 2024 after Greece failed to qualify, meaning he had extra time to work with his new head coach.

In a quick interview with LFCTV, Tsimikas gave an insight into Slot’s training regime.

Arne Slot is ready to bring a “very impressive” former Everton man to Liverpool this summer. The new boss wastes little time.

Liverpool haven’t done any senior transfer business this summer, but that’s not the only thing on the agenda at Anfield. While new players would be nice, the Reds also need to rebuild their backline.

Jurgen Klopp’s exit meant a new ‘head coach’, but almost the entire coaching staff followed him out the door. It left Arne Slot having to find new names to help him – a process that is firmly underway.

And one of those names knows Merseyside very well. Liverpool are set to sign John Heitinga, who spent four seasons at Everton in his playing days.
