Hardly anyone wants to sign Leeds United’s £10m player this summer

Leeds United may struggle to sell one player in particular this summer, even if they really want to.

So far, the 49ers have made an easy job of moving players since the start of the window, but there is one that could prove difficult.

Leeds dropped 12 players following their play-off final defeat to Southampton in May and that figure is almost certain to rise before the end of August.

Archie Gray’s £40m move to Tottenham Hotspur is arguably the highest-profile exit to date, while Leeds have done well to move Marc Roca and Diego Llorente permanently, even if the fees are not particularly attractive.

Charlie Cresswell, Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood are among the younger contingents who have also left, the former being permanent.

Update action on Leeds’ chances of selling Rasmus Kristensen

Leeds now feel they are in a better position to keep hold of some of their stars such as Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto following the sale of Gray. However, it is unlikely to deter interested parties from making offers.

Glen Kamara, Illan Meslier and Georginio Rutter are just a few of the other players attracting interest, but the more immediate focus may be on the likes of Rasmus Kristensen and Max Wober.

With almost two weeks to go from their Euro 2024 exits, both players will return to Thorp Arch for pre-season in the coming days.

After spending last season on loan, neither have active loan clauses, meaning a decision must be made on whether to bring them back.

However, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds may be left with little choice when it comes to Kristensen.

Leeds are said to have received “little” interest in the man they paid £10million to sign two years ago, which could make things very difficult if he wants to leave.

Why Kristensen is the most difficult situation of returning loanees

Of Brenden Aaronson, Wober and Kristensen, the latter is the least motivated for Leeds to bring him back.

As for Aaronson, he’s still very young, has room to develop and was already gone before Daniel Farke could set foot in the door last summer. As such, it comes as no surprise that he has already committed his future to Elland Road.

Wober is a bit more difficult due to the circumstances in which he went out on loan, having gone back on his word by leaving for Borussia Monchengladbach. However, during his short spell at Leeds, he showed enough that he can be a great asset in the Championship.

Kristensen, on the other hand, has had a terrible last two years. His season-long loan at AS Roma was a nightmare and his one campaign at Leeds wasn’t much better.

He also left under similar circumstances to Wober as it seemed possible that he would stay. It’s really difficult to see a way back for him, but it’s clearly going to be a tough time.
