Leeds United are being linked with a surprise move for the Sheffield United star

New reports suggest that Leeds United are on the verge of making a move for Sheffield United right-back Jayden Bogle.

The surprising news broke early Saturday afternoon and raised eyebrows not just because the 49ers are usually tight-lipped, but because he’s an asset to the Blades.

Bogle, 23, made 34 Premier League appearances last season and scored three goals, including one to give his side the lead against Man Utd at Old Trafford.

His style of play has been likened to that of a full-back and he is sure to flourish back in the Championship where he has made 118 appearances since joining the ranks from Derby County.

Daniel Farke will be desperate to add depth at right-back given the departures of Luke Ayling and his out-of-position replacement Archie Gray.

Conor Roberts spent the second half of last season at Elland Road. Although it had minimal impact, it captured the imagination of fans.

He has been linked with a return to Yorkshire in this transfer window, but nothing has materialized so far.

The Blades will be able to cushion the financial blow of relegation with their parachute payments, but that doesn’t mean they won’t sell if the price is right.

At this stage, there are no indications that Bogle himself wants to leave. However, time is running out on his contract, meaning he could leave as a free agent next summer.

It’s also worth noting that his current club aren’t too keen to seal a return to the top flight, while the Whites are the bookies’ favorites to win the league.

Leeds should have a sizeable war chest to attack promotion with this campaign and an offer in excess of £5m could tempt them to sell.
