What people are noticing about Archie Gray behind the scenes at Tottenham after Leeds exit

After talks with Aston Villa a week prior and then a move to Brentford failing despite Gray traveling south to undergo a medical, Tottenham swooped. It allowed Leeds to do a £10m deal for defender Joe Rodon.

Gray is yet to be seen in a Spurs shirt but the North London club faced Cambridge behind closed doors this week, winning 7-2 with two different sides playing 45 minutes each. Gray the latter, at right-back.

Alasdair Gold shares what Tottenham are noticing about Gray

The 18-year-old is expected to play a regular role at Spurs straight away given his transfer fee but also his versatility, able to offer cover at right-back but also push for a starting spot in the middle of the park.

Speaking to his YouTube channel, Football London reporter Gold said he had been told by Tottenham insiders that Gray is already catching the eye in training with the ball, but also his personality off of it, too.

“I’m told, he’s been catching the eye in training. Very much, everyone is wowed by what he is doing which is great. Archie Gray is a very talented young man, and that’s what people have made of him so far.”

It won’t be long before Gray is a regular for Tottenham

Those of a Leeds persuasion will know that Gray already has the potential and proven quality to go to Spurs and start week in, week out. He has that raw ability, mixed with maturity, to shine in a Spurs shirt.

For most teenagers, it might take a season or two before they explode onto the scene at a club like Spurs, if at all. But Gray is ready to go straight away and he could be Tottenham’s next Dele Alli, quite easily.

With Spurs in the Europa League, Gray will also get the opportunity to play against European clubs and that will only serve as a sign to Ange Postecoglou that he should be starting Premier League matches.
