Live traffic updates as ‘long delays’ reported on the M1 near East Midlands Airport

“Major delays” are being reported on the M1 in Leicestershire due to a vehicle fire this afternoon (Sunday 14 July). Two lanes have been closed on the M1 southbound at J23A for East Midlands Airport, traffic tracker INRIX reports.

The congestion was said to extend to J24. The incident was first reported by the service at 15.12.

Six miles of congestion was reported

National Highways is reporting six miles of congestion on the approach to the incident, which it said happened between J23 and J23. He said delays are now about 30 minutes on the southbound route.
