Davy Litten has settled for Hull FC, while Carlos Tuimava is a doubt for the Wigan Warriors clash

Simon Grix praised Davy Litten for a strong attack at center despite Saturday’s derby defeat, with the interim manager again suggesting the player could have a solid future in the position. The 21-year-old first covered Liam Sutcliffe on the left flank as he went for an HIA, before returning to the pitch in the second half.

Replacing Carlos Tuimavave, who suffered a hamstring strain, Litten had some good touches on the ball and made plenty of runs. Cutting inside, he ran for a total of 160 meters from 15 carries, making the break that led to Logan Moy’s second-half try and causing problems for Rovers, who ran out 24-10 winners.

And while the young star told Hull Live in a recent interview of his desire to play at full-back, Grix believes there could be room for him to play centrally and have a useful first-team role in the future, with Tuimavave now a doubt for Saturday’s game against Wigan Warriors. That could see Litten line up on the right wing again, with Grix happy with his performance.

“Davy did what Davy does,” Grix told Hull Live after the game. “He gave us some energy and came up with some good plays as well. He put his flag on the flagpole. He wants to be a full-back, but the utility can be very useful for any team and for the individual. He’s definitely got some attributes there that can be really useful.

“But again with Davy, it’s to get a significant number of games under his belt to get experience in the position. I don’t think center is out of the question for Davy to progress in his career, but he’ll have a few strings to his bow, I think .”

Grix also commented on Logan Moy, who made his first senior derby appearance. Back at full-back, the 18-year-old provided another glimpse into what the club hope will be an exciting future.

“Logan was good,” Grix added. “He put the first bomb down, but he didn’t shake it. He handled it and we put him on the ball a little bit. Again, I think he just had to make some of the plays that he’s good at. We. They weren’t smart enough to get the best out of anybody on the field or the team, let’s be honest. We had a lot of guys out there and they did well, for sure, but we just have to get smarter.”
