Lovers of the Coronation Street newcomer will recognise

Coronation Street bosses have confirmed a new detective is about to hit the pavement as the mystery of missing teenager Lauren Bolton continues.

Fans of the soap will probably recognize Christopher ‘Kit’ Green as he is played by former Hollyoaks star Jacob Roberts. Jacob played Damon Kinsella in Hollyoaks for six years.

While Kit will be brought in to help DS Swan find out what happened to Lauren, he turns out to be Bernie Winters’ long lost son.

As viewers will know, Bernie was on a mission to find his son Zodiac, who was adopted and renamed Christopher shortly after his birth.

Tonight’s episode saw Bernie track down a man with the same name, but was disappointed when he denied being the man she was looking for. But as a disappointed Bernie started to walk home, the man pulled out a jade elephant toy, just like the one Bernie told Dev she had bought for her son.

On Wednesday, a drunk Bernie will bump into Kit on the street, and he will arrest her for being drunk and disorderly. While still hiding his true identity from his biological mother, Kit will use his job to learn more about her.

Jacob said: “It’s absolutely amazing to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. When I first walked onto the set I felt a bit overwhelmed because the attention to detail is just incredible, it actually makes you feel like you’re on a real street.

“My mum and dad are really excited too, which is great. My mum has always watched Coronation Street, and I’ve always kept up with her, so it’s surreal to be here. I met all the cast and crew were great, I really feel at home here.

“I’m looking forward to meeting everyone on Kit, but I think he’s going to be a very misunderstood character at first. He’s been very hurt throughout his life, and although he has a good heart, he has a deep-rooted resentment towards his biological mother, Bernie, which will be very interesting to play.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
