An investigation is underway after a police officer was hit by a quad bike in Bradford.

Police say they were called to reports of dirt bikes being ridden dangerously on Sunday.

A 27-year-old man from Huddersfield has been arrested for driving over the limit and causing grievous bodily harm.

A police spokesman said:

“Police received several reports of dirt bikes being driven dangerously in the Bradford South area over the weekend.

“On Sunday July 14, a group of men were reported riding quad bikes and dirt bikes in Harold Lodge Park and then speeding on roads in the area.

“Officers on Tong Street deployed a cordon after several bikes failed to stop for police. A suspect then drove directly into an officer injuring him.

“A 27-year-old man from Huddersfield has been arrested for driving over the limit after testing positive for drugs and causing grievous bodily harm.

“The officer was taken to hospital for treatment of a leg injury.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any video or dashcam footage is asked to contact police to assist with their enquiries.”
