Newcastle want another Leeds player alongside Crysencio Summerville and will cost over £25m

Newcastle United have already been linked with a move for Leeds United’s Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville, but now they want another Elland Road star.

Summerville has attracted the interest of many Premier League clubs this summer. The latest reports say he is “weighing up his future” at Elland Road, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Palace all interested.

Eddie Howe is said to be a “big admirer” of Summerville and would even offload Miguel Almiron to finance a deal for the Summerville winger. Small surprise, given that he is the player of the season in the championship.

But, Newcastle are well stocked on the left flank, Summerville’s best position. They boast England star Anthony Gordon and Leeds nemesis Harvey Barnes and Summerville are unlikely to get in.

He would be better off trying to improve the right side of the attack, especially with Elliot Anderson gone and Almiron attracting interest from Saudi Arabia. Then Willy Gnonto might be a better fit for Toon.

TeamTalk say Newcastle are now interested in a deal to sign Italy star Gnonto. Everton are long-term admirers and could reunite Gnonto with Jack Harrison, but Newcastle are in the running for his signature.

The report also states that Leeds want a high figure of at least £25m for Gnonto. It could explain why a £16.9m bid from Nottingham Forest for Gnonto was rejected earlier this summer.

If Leeds get anything over £20m for Gnonto, they have to accept

Those in the Premier League will remember how effective Gnonto was in a Leeds shirt. Whether it was terrorizing Ashley Young at Villa, his goal against Man United or an assist at Anfield.

Gnonto has enormous potential but has struggled over the past 12 months. The refusal to play for Leeds was followed by a spell on the bench before he won his place back, but with a stutter.

Perhaps, surrounded by better players, Gnonto can shine. But with Leeds initially paying £3.8m for Gnonto, anything over £20m would be a huge profit in PSR’s eyes and must be accepted.
