Liverpool ‘ready’ to sign £50m defender as Arne Slot targets Bundesliga trio

Liverpool are being linked with four players in the latest transfer rumor mill. The Reds are yet to complete their first signing of the summer but are still credited with an interest in several potential new additions to their squad.

Arne Slot is the new head coach at Anfield and will spend pre-season training assessing his squad before making decisions on new signings. The summer transfer window closes on September 2, and between now and then Liverpool have pre-season games as well as Premier League games. The Reds will travel to the United States later this month before kicking off their top-flight campaign at Ipswich Town on August 17.

With transfer rumors in full swing, the ECHO has taken a look at some of the latest speculation to do the rounds in the last 24 hours.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo. Reports in recent months have credited the Reds with an interest in the centre-back.

According to Portuguese news outlet O Jogo, Liverpool are planning a move to bring Inacio to Anfield this summer. It has been widely reported that the centre-back has a €60m (£50m) release clause in his contract with Sporting.

The report states that Liverpool will look to bring in a new centre-back to partner Virgil van Dijk following Joel Matip’s free agent departure. As a result, Inacio has been identified as a target for the Reds, with Manchester United and Newcastle also mentioned as rivals for the defender’s signature.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are looking to sign three Bundesliga players this summer. According to Sport Bild, the Reds are targeting moves for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen.

All three players took part in Euro 2024 this summer and are on summer break. The report claims that Liverpool are interested in signing all three of Kimmich, Frimpong and Malen, but did not specify the fees that would be required to complete each deal.
