Callum O’Hare is set to be unveiled as Coventry City favorites make their decision

Callum O’Hare is set to be introduced to Sheffield United after leaving Coventry City as a free agent this summer.

The 26-year-old is understood to have turned down a hugely lucrative offer from MLS, while he also had interest from Leicester City and Southampton, newly promoted to the Premier League and relegated Burnley.

The Blades are understood to have matched top-flight wages to bring the attacking midfielder who reunites with another Sky Blues favorite Gustavo Hamer at the Bramall strip, although there is uncertainty over the Dutchman/Brazilian’s future at the club.

Many City fans may be left scratching their heads at what appears to be a lateral move to another top-flight Championship club rather than the Premier League, but O’Hare could well have having seen the guarantee of regular starts, along with wages and United’s ambition for a swift return to the table is enough to convince him that it is the right move for him.

O’Hare, who ended a successful five-year spell at Coventry, is expected to sign a four-year contract following a medical today. An official announcement confirming the transfer is understood to be imminent.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Wolves are leading the race for Hamer, with the Blades demanding £20million for his signature. The Sky Blues, who sold him for around £15million last summer, would benefit from a sell-on clause and receive a percentage of the midfielder’s profits.
