About 40 firefighters stayed at the scene overnight to monitor the affected areas.

Road closures are still in place and we are being warned to avoid the area. Wood Lane, Wingfoot Way and Holly Lane are affected.

A man was assessed at the scene by paramedics but cleared.

The fire broke out at around 3.20pm yesterday (July 17) and saw around 100 firefighters at its height. Large plumes of black smoke were visible all over the city.

It is still unclear what caused the fire, but no one is believed to have been injured.

Birmingham-based charity Helping Hands, which supports homeless people in the city, posted on Facebook: “Hopefully our stock in our unit is ok but thinking we will have lost everything as it looks like the fire was on top of our unit.” .
