Coventry firefighters are among the major 999 responses to the huge factory fire off the M6

Coventry firefighters were called into action to help a huge factory fire near the M6. They made changes at the site at Hastingwood Industrial Park on Wood Lane in Erdington overnight.

At its height, there were more than 100 firefighters on 13 engines at the blaze, which sent huge clouds of acrid smoke into the sky above the motorway yesterday (July 18) and could be seen from as far away as Solihull.

Crews from Canley and Foleshill attended the scene overnight, while the operation continues this morning. West Midlands Fire Service confirmed a total of 40 firefighters and seven fire engines attended the incident overnight.
