The ‘Pride’ bus to join the parade in Leeds

A double-decker bus emblazoned with Pride colors and a message of community support will be big again in the Leeds Pride parade this weekend (Sunday 21 July).

Leeds-based First Bus has been a supporter of the city’s Pride Festival for several years and the importance of the richness that comes from diversity and inclusion in society is one that resonates strongly with the operator’s values.

As part of its ongoing commitment to help create easier access to Pride events and festivals, First Bus has created a special discount ticket costing £3.50 for unlimited journeys on the day across West Yorkshire.

The ticket will go on sale from Saturday 20th July and details of how to purchase can be found by visiting https://www.firstbus.co.uk/leeds/plan-journey/live-local-spend-local-travel -local /leeds-pride

A spokesman for First Leeds said: “We hope this will enable lower income households and disadvantaged groups in particular to ease some of the pressure everyone is facing with the cost of living crisis and enjoy the Pride Festival performance”.

The spokesperson added: “We launched our special model Pride bus in 2022 and it continues to deliver the message to the communities of Leeds, not just during Pride Month, but every day of the year.

“Our business is on a journey to a place where everyone is welcome, can be their true selves and be successful. We have a growing awareness program to help know and understand our colleagues and are building a team that represents the diversity and difference in the communities we serve.”
