Jesse Marsch lands first managerial job after Leeds United resignation

Former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has landed his first managerial job since leaving the Whites in February 2023.

Marsch was sacked by Leeds amid a poor run of form which left the club struggling to survive in the Premier League. Relegation would eventually follow, with results not improving in the final weeks of the campaign.

The American has been out of work since his departure from Elland Road last year, although he will soon be back in the dugout. It was confirmed tonight that Marsch has been named the new manager of Canada’s national team under contract until 2026.

It means the 50-year-old will coach Canada at this summer’s Copa America, the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup and the 2026 World Cup, which they will host alongside Mexico and the United States.

Describing his emotions after landing this new role, Marsch said, “It is an absolute honor to represent and lead the Canadian Men’s National Team in our preparation for a World Cup at home. The combination of the new leadership within Canada Soccer along with the potential of this dynamic group of players has inspired me and I am ready and eager to take on this massive responsibility.

“My excitement and anticipation to get started is immense. One of my primary goals will be to help the Canadian soccer community support our efforts to be successful on and off the field. All In for 2026!”
