Meet the ‘real-life Rapunzel’ who has the longest hair in the world, stretching to 7 feet 9 inches.

Smita Srivastava, from Uttar Pradesh in India, has been growing her hair since she was 14. The 46-year-old holds the Guinness World Record for the longest hair on a living person and says she will “never cut it”.




It takes her up to 45 minutes to wash her endless locks and uses three blow dryers to dry it. The mum, whose barnet drags on the floor as she walks, says she simply uses a comb and her hands to detangle her tresses.

Speaking on the Guinness World Records YouTube channel, Smita said: “I love my hair so much. I used to dream of holding a world record title and God answered my prayers. I want my hair to gain more recognition so I can earn more. records.”

Sharing why she is so passionate about her locks, Smita explained: “My first inspiration is my mum and my sisters – because everyone in my family has beautiful hair. The other inspiration is the Hindi cinema of the 80s. Actresses at that time had beautiful long hair. , which inspired me to grow your own hair.

“In our society, long hair announces the beauty of women. I hope to keep growing my hair as long as I can manage. I will never cut my hair and I will continue to grow it. My family has always supported me. “

The world record holder also confessed that she will not throw away any hair she has lost through brushing or washing. She added: ‘I haven’t shed a hair in 20 years. I have a huge collection.
