The Yard hosts the ‘biggest’ Caribbean Reggae Fever Festival after party in town

Coventry’s LGBTQ+ venue The Yard will host the city’s ‘biggest afterparty’ for the Reggae Fever Caribbean Festival on Saturday 20 July. The venue will host ‘Reggae Vibes’ featuring the best in Reggae, Dancehall, R&B and more.

The Caribbean Reggae Fever Festival will kick off with a vibrant ‘full of colour’ parade through the city center before heading to War Memorial Park with steel pans, gospel singers and colorful acts. The festival will also feature the city’s well-known DJs and systems, a funfair and various food and drinks inspired by Caribbean culture.

The after party at The Yard will start at 12pm and features a BBQ serving up authentic Caribbean BBQ food with DJs to keep the ‘party going’ including Zebby, DJ Kamar and DJ Richard Moon. There will also be drink specials and cocktails for visitors to celebrate the best of the Caribbean with original music, food and more.

Here’s the full Caribbean BBQ menu that will be on offer:

• Jerk Wings – Rum Infused Chicken Wings with Jerk and Pineapple. £4.00.
• Cajun Hotdog – Grilled Cajun Hot Dog with Citrus Infused Mustard. £4.50.
• Smoked Spud – Smoked Piri Piri Sweet Potatoes. £3.50.
• BBQ Ribs – Glazed BBQ ribs with spiced rum infusion. £5.00.
• Tuna Steak – Lemon Thyme Grilled Tuna Steak with Pineapple Salsa. £5.00.
• Lobster Rolls – Lobster Rolls with Jamaican Green Spiced Butter. £6.00.

Yard Operations Manager Kieran Jones said: “We are delighted to be hosting a Coventry Caribbean Reggae Fever Festival after party. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the vibrant culture and music of the Caribbean and we can’t wait. to welcome everyone to The Yard for a night of celebration.”

The Yard has been the city’s premier LGBTQ+ venue, providing a safe and welcoming space for the community since 2017. Bosses say they are more than “a bar and nightclub” but a hub for Coventry Pride, coffee mornings and other meetings.
