Report: Leicester make £10m bid for player wanted by Nottingham Forest…

Nottingham Forest are set to battle Steve Cooper for a player and the former City Ground man has shown his hand first.

The 44-year-old spent two-and-a-half years on Trentside, taking the club from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League.

Cooper restored Premier League football to Forest for the first time in 23 years and his stock remains incredibly high in the city.

Now he is the man tasked with reviving Leicester’s fortunes and it looks like Forest will battle him for a player.

The Foxes, however, have now made the first move ahead of Forest.

Leicester have made their first bid for Alexis Saelemaekers

This news comes in line with Football Italia, who claim that Leicester have now made a £10million bid for the winger.

It comes amid a flurry of Premier League interest, with Forest linked with the Saelemaekers yesterday.

The AC Milan player is available for transfer this summer following his impressive loan campaign with Bologna in 2023/24.

He signed for San Siro giants Anderlecht in 2020 and is now looking to recoup the £10.9m they paid for him.

Forest are in the market for a new winger this summer and that seems to have led the club to Saelemaekers.

The Belgian will not join Bologna on a permanent deal and now appears to have a number of clubs chasing his signature before the start of the season.

One thing should deter Forest from the Saelemaekers

This may sound pretentious, but if Forest are going to sign a new winger, he really needs to be left-handed!

Forest have Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi who are right-footed options but don’t really have a left-footed winger.

Saelemaekers wouldn’t change that and hopefully the club will move on from it quickly.

Giving Leicester a free ride on the Belgian would not be ideal, but given he managed seven assists last season, he is not an upgrade on Elanga or Hudson-Odoi.

In our view, Forest is better than this.
