‘Absolutely crazy’ – Jurgen Klopp sends emotional message to Liverpool fans

Jurgen Klopp hailed Liverpool’s “absolutely crazy” support after his final away game in charge.

The Reds struggled to an entertaining 3-3 draw at Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday night.

Klopp chanted his name away throughout the match and after the final whistle greeted the support in an emotional exchange.

And when asked later about the Kop’s backing, the Liverpool boss said he had highlighted the huge following his side had had wherever they traveled the globe in his almost nine years in charge.

“I’ve always liked it, I liked it today,” Klopp said. “I really appreciate what these guys and gals are doing. The away fans are always like absolutely crazy what they did, where they were. I’ve asked them to travel a lot over the years.

“It was and is a wonderful relationship. I always try to show my appreciation and the boys showed that today with the way they played.

“I still don’t feel like it’s the last time, I know it is, but I just don’t feel it. Obviously, I’m more professional than I thought, because I was completely in the game, I didn’t think for a second that it would be my last away game, no film crossed my mind, nothing. I was totally into the game.”

Liverpool were denied a win when Villa substitute Jhon Duran scored twice in the final five minutes of normal time, the Reds scoring through an Emiliano Martinez own goal, a Cody Gakpo strike and Jarell’s first goal Quansah in the Premier League.

The visitors were missing the injured Andy Robertson, although Klopp gave an encouraging update on the left-back’s fitness ahead of Sunday’s season finale at home to Wolves.

“I saw him this morning and he told me he is ready to train from tomorrow,” the Reds boss said on Monday evening. “This is the situation.”
