Jay Slater’s mother issues major GoFundMe update after body found

Jay Slater’s heartbroken mum Debbie Duncan has shared an emotional update on their GoFundMe page as they look for new donations. The appeal was issued as she aims to cover funeral expenses for her late son after his body was found earlier this week.

In an emotional message on the GoFundMe page, Debbie thanked everyone who sent messages following the discovery of Jay’s body on Monday (July 15), the Mirror reports. She said: “Hello everyone, thank you for all your kindness, support and condolences in light of the tragic news that Jay’s body has been found. We are overwhelmed with grief and are so grateful for your support.




“The wonderful team from the Netherlands, Signi Zoekhondon, have been in Spain all week and have continued to support us since Jay was found. They are due to fly home in the coming days and we are very grateful for their dedication and support.”

Jay’s mother also thanked LBT Global, a charity that helps families in similar situations, for their assistance during the month-long search for the missing teenager. She said: “We would like to thank LBT Global for their support during this impossible time. We are working with agencies to arrange Jay’s repatriation to the UK and any remaining funds along with future donations will be used to help with this if necessary. and pay for Jay’s funeral at home. We want to give our boy the retirement he deserves so please continue to share and support the fundraiser however you can.

The tragic discovery of Jay’s body was made by the Spanish Civil Guard mountain rescue team after an extensive four-week search. The 19-year-old from Lancashire had been missing since Monday, June 17, while on the Spanish island of Tenerife.

A number of emotional tributes were paid at the scene of Jay’s death on Wednesday (July 17). White and blue floral tributes accompanied heartfelt notes from Debbie Duncan, as well as Jay’s father Warren Slater and his older brother Zak.

In her message attached to the flowers, Debbie, Jay’s grieving mother, wrote: ‘My beautiful boy, I’m so sorry I never found you. “I miss you so much. You will be forever young and forever missed.”
