An elderly woman killed in a tragic two-car crash in Meath has sparked an appeal for witnesses

An elderly woman has died in a tragic two-car crash in Co Meath.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the collision near Enfield in Co Meath, which happened shortly after 2pm on Wednesday.

Gardai and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving two cars on the R148.

The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
An examination of the scene by Garda Forensic collision investigators has since been completed. The road has been reopened.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

All road users who may have dash cam footage (including dashcam) and were traveling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to the police.
