A major drug deal and a motorcycle chase across south Bristol amid a police crackdown

Avon and Somerset Police officers have had a busy week in south Bristol following a crackdown on bike-related crime. Officers discovered and shut down a cannabis farm, seized several stolen vehicles and arrested two men after a dramatic bike chase.

The targeted operation took place from Monday 8 July to Friday 12 July with officers from the South Bristol Neighborhood Policing Team joining forces with the Roads Policing Unit and the Operational Support Unit.




The week’s focus was on motorcycle crime and anti-social behaviour. High visibility patrols were carried out in the area and specially trained traffic police were also deployed to target known hotspots.

Several motorcycles were impounded for lack of insurance and obstruction. Traffic police officers embarked on a pursuit of a stolen motorbike near the Cribbs Causeway, successfully stopping and arresting the two men riding the bike in Yate.

Police also executed a successful warrant that shut down a cannabis farm. A total of 64 cannabis plants were seized from a property in Bishopsworth.

Two adults were arrested and taken into custody. They have since been released under investigation.

In addition, there were knife sweeps and foot patrols in nearby parks and public spaces.
