Civil Litigation Solicitor Job at Sheffield City Council

We are looking for people with a recognized legal qualification (Lawyer, Lawyer or CILEX Lawyer) with good knowledge and experience working in civil litigation.

The team’s work is fast-paced and challenging, areas may include contract/commercial disputes, property disputes, debt recovery (individuals and commercial enterprises) and public sector housing law.

Successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate a flexible approach as the post will involve legal representation and advocacy in various fora, for example the County Court, Magistrates’ Court and First-tier Tribunals. Experience in civil proceedings in the Magistrates Court may be an advantage.

These are permanent roles based in Sheffield city centre.

You will be able to work flexibly, including working remotely, ‘in the office’ presence will be required for part of your work schedule, including court hearings.

This is a politically restricted post under the terms of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the final grade. If you provide proof of pay that your base pay is higher than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the minimum advantage point within the grade.
