Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has been included in the England squad after a superb season under Unai Emery, including topping the Premier League assists table. Speaking to talkSPORT, Maupay acknowledged Watkins’ indirect role in naming his son, saying: “I played with him, Ollie is my friend. Honestly, the goal from him, the goal of a proper striker, you know. Tap and I’m done. So I’m very happy for him.

“I have a story for you. I named my son after Ollie Watkins. When I first met him about eight years ago at Brentford, I loved the name and told him that if I had a son one day I would call him Ollie. I actually spoke to him last week to let him know.”
