IHOP plans to open a restaurant in the Stop & Shop Plaza in Enfield

ENFIELD, CT — A vacancy in the Stop & Shop Plaza on Hazard Avenue is likely to be filled in the coming months by a national restaurant chain.

A building permit application has been filed with the city on behalf of IHOP, which stands for International House of Pancakes. The company plans to renovate a 2,300-square-foot space on the west edge of the plaza, last occupied by Saki Sushi & Ramen House.

The restaurant, founded in California in 1958, currently operates more than 1,800 locations worldwide, most of them under franchise agreements. There are 11 IHOP restaurants in Connecticut, with Manchester being the closest to Enfield.
