TikTok star reveals how everyone has been cooking minced meat wrong

Did you know there is a way to improve the taste of your food without adding extra ingredients? According to TikTok food content creator Alex, we all cook ground meat incorrectly, which means we lose a lot of flavor.

Ground meat, or ground meat, is a staple in many popular meals—from spaghetti bolognese to cottage pie. Alex, who posts as @cooksasheat, revealed there is a cooking method that can be used for any dish, the Mirror reports.

On TikTok, he posted: “How to cook beef the right way for any dish. Please do this, you will thank me”.

The content creator explained that he is “horrified” every time he sees someone cooking with minced meat. According to Alex, people don’t brown their meat long enough – which means it doesn’t absorb as much flavor as it could.

He said: “The purpose of browning your meat before you add the vegetables or whatever else you’re putting in is to introduce something called the Maillard reaction.”

In the clip, he explained that the Maillard reaction is a “chemical reaction between amino acids and reducing sugars to create melanoidins, the compounds that give browned foods their distinctive flavor.” This “caramelizes” and “deepens the flavor of what you’re cooking.”

Alex then shared his “correct method” of cooking mince. He said: “Instead of throwing your vegetables into a gray, cooked meat, start with a medium hot pan, toss it, break it up like you normally would.”
